** Personal Service Attendant**

** Odebolt Specialty Care**

Full time including every other weekend. **PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION**

Under the supervision of a Licensed Nurse, the Personal Service Attendant assists older people who are functionally, physically, and/or socially impaired and need oversight. The Personal Service Attendants role is to assist tenants with those activities of daily living that they are unable to perform without help, fostering at all times tenants independence and freedom of choice. All responsibilities will be conducted in a manner that is consistent with the philosophy of assisted living.

This position is responsible for delivery of quality service, promoting good public relations, and for upholding the mission and standards of the facility. **ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**

- Perform activities of daily living per company policy and procedures and demonstrated competency.

- Assist tenant with dressing and undressing (clothing should be clean and appropriate for the season).

- Assist with the selection of clothing.

- Assist tenant with bathing.

- Assist with personal hygiene (shaving, dental hygiene, nail care, foot care) activities.

- Assist with mobility devices (cane, walker, wheelchair, crutches) including monitoring of safe transfer and ambulation techniques.

- Assist in the care of ADL devices such as eyeglasses, contact lenses, hearing aids

- Monitor appropriate use of tenant supplies, office and other needed supplies and report to supervisor when quantities are low.

- Copy special paperwork or forms at direction of supervisor.

- Be knowledgeable of emergency and evacuation policies, as well as conducting and documenting practice procedures as assigned.

**Qualifications:**

**Education/Certification/License**

* Training in sanitation and food safety within 7 working days and prior to handling or serving food.

**Knowledge**

* None.

**Experience**

* None.

**Skills/Abilities**

* Think, act and intervene independently in routine and emergency situations.

* Self-motivated and function as a responsible person.

* Work flexible hours and participate in holiday activities.

* Functional Literacy in written and spoken English

* Proficient interpersonal relationships and communication skills

* Ability to follow written and oral instructions

* Complete assignments timely, completely and accurately

**DELEGATION OF AUTHORITY**

Authority is delegated to the individual in this position to:

* Provide care to tenants following facility policies and procedures.

* Report tenants needs and concerns to a licensed nurse.
