Position Summary:We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Periop Medical Assistant - Pre Admission Testing - Full Time, Days
Under the direction and supervision of the registered nurse, assists the nursing and medical staff by performing identified services and established procedures to provide for the care, comfort and safety of patients. In addition performs selected procedures, such as EKG and venipuncture. Maintains patient care areas in a clean and orderly condition; prepares equipment and supplies according to established procedure and transports patients as needed. Participates in the orientation process of new employees.
Job Responsibilities:
Minimum Qualifications:To qualify you must have a High School diploma or GEDMust have one of the following:Certificate from an approved MA training program, orPhlebotomy certificate, orFive years prior hospital or sub-acute experience, orMedical Technician Associate Degree.Ability to make independent decisions which impact upon work flow, identification of changing patient needs and consequences of role as they relate to actions of entire medical team.Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact with patients and their families that demonstrate recognition of cultural diversity.Basic analytical skills in order to gather data, complete comparisons, interpret and report outcomes to the nurse or document on the medical record.Must have excellent customer service and telephone skillsAbility to manage and perform multiple tasks simultaneously in a changing work environment.Basic computer skills.Ability to maintain focused attention to detail.BLS certification, de-escalation and first aid training.
