General Summary of Position MedStar Health invites skilled Respiratory Care Practitioners to join our dedicated team. As a Respiratory Care Practitioner, you will showcase your understanding of human respiratory anatomy, physiology, and pathology. You will be responsible for operating and applying respiratory care equipment adeptly in a clinical setting, ensuring safety and effectiveness in patient care.
The successful candidate will:
- Assess the comprehensive needs of patients, including physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and cultural dimensions, as well as their educational requirements.
- Execute a variety of respiratory therapy treatments and manage relevant equipment and services, such as oxygen delivery, ventilators (both invasive and non-invasive), bronchial hygiene, and blood gas analysis.
- Utilize effective communication and problem-solving skills while delivering care.
- Participate actively in cardiopulmonary resuscitation efforts, ensuring airway management and patient safety.
- Contribute to workflow efficiency and departmental improvement by monitoring processes and implementing changes as necessary.
- Review electronic medical records and physician orders throughout your shift.
Qualifications: To qualify for this position, you should have:
- An Associate degree from an AMA accredited program in respiratory care.
- Current CRT certification or be an NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within one year of hire.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Certification (NRP) within one year of hire.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification (PALS) within one year of hire.
- Registry eligibility, with some acute experience preferred.
- A Bachelor's degree in a related healthcare field is a plus.
- Preference for RRT certification from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
