What will your ‘typical' day look like? Different that's for sure…:
Atom Bank is redefining finance with its mobile-first approach, and our People Experience team is at the heart of ensuring an inspiring and memorable employee journey. We're on a journey of HR maturity, with a clear destination in sight, and we're looking for an experienced People Business Partner to play a pivotal role in getting us there.
This isn't just about HR processes; it's about becoming a trusted advisor to senior leaders across multiple business areas, including our dynamic Technology function. You'll be expected to work side-by-side with departments, anticipating upcoming issues and influencing change proactively. While your immediate focus will involve expertly managing change initiatives and complex employee relations, this role will evolve towards leading more strategic projects as our HR maturity deepens.
What you'll be doing:
- Strategic Partnership: Partner closely with Executives and Heads of Departments, including Technology leaders, to drive productivity through talent management, employee engagement, and key HR initiatives. You'll translate business requirements into effective HR practices, acting almost as an integrated part of their teams.
- Expert ER Management: Provide expert advice and guidance on complex employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, and conflict resolution, personally resolving the most complex and sensitive issues. You'll also support, develop, and coach senior leaders to effectively manage people issues, and develop proactive strategies to minimise ER challenges.
- Drive Organisational Change: Lead and support significant organisational change initiatives, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruption through effective communication plans and stakeholder engagement strategies.
- Performance & Talent Champion: Embed a robust performance management culture, from objective setting to continuous feedback. You'll collaborate with senior stakeholders to identify talent needs, facilitate succession planning, and develop high-potential employees.
- Data-Driven Influence: Working alongside our People Data & Compliance Lead, you will utilise people data and analytics to generate meaningful Management Information (MI), interpreting trends and identifying opportunities to influence strategic decision-making as data quality and scope improve.
- Employee Engagement & Experience: Be a key influencer on employee engagement, analyse feedback and translate insights into actionable initiatives, and contribute to the Atom's overall employee experience.
What do we need from you?
- Demonstrable experience providing HR and people-related support within organisations in a HR or People Business Partner role.
- Proven ability and experience in managing complex employee relations issues to appropriate and fair outcomes.
- Strong influencer and collaborator at all levels, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with senior leaders and act as a trusted advisor.
- It will be advantageous if you have partnered with a Technology function or previously worked for a tech focused company, however this is not essential.
- Ability to deal with ambiguity, drive things forward independently, and demonstrate exceptional resilience and tenacity in a fast-paced environment.
- Capacity to analyse and interpret people data, identify key trends, and present compelling, actionable insights.
- Strong working and up-to-date knowledge of employment law and experience with HR administrative systems.
- Excellent communication skills, able to deliver challenging messages effectively, and experience in coaching senior leaders.
- Possess either a HR related degree, CIPD qualification or equivalent experience.

- Salary range £42k-£50k dependant on experience
- Flexible hybrid working.
- 4-day work week
- Incredibly generous company pension scheme (maximum of 13% of Atom input – you can put in more)
