Position Summary:
- The PEMB Construction Superintendent oversees and manages daily field operations on Pre-Engineered Metal Building (PEMB) construction sites. This role ensures projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to quality and contract specifications. The Superintendent acts as the primary on-site leader and serves as the key liaison between field crews, subcontractors, suppliers, and project management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct and coordinate all on-site activities for PEMB erection and related trades.
- Enforce compliance with company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and project-specific safety plans.
- Interpret and communicate PEMB shop drawings, erection drawings, and specifications to crews and subcontractors.
- Monitor schedule performance and coordinate work sequencing to meet project milestones.
- Lead daily jobsite meetings and toolbox talks; maintain daily field reports and progress logs.
- Communicate regularly with the Project Manager on job progress, potential delays, and resource needs.
- Oversee material deliveries, storage, handling, and installation of PEMB components.
- Ensure quality control standards are met; promptly address any field deficiencies.
- Verify subcontractor scope compliance and coordinate between trades.
- Manage inspections and punch list activities through project completion.
Education & Experience:
- Experience: Minimum 5 years as a Superintendent in PEMB construction.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; technical or construction management education preferred.
- Certifications: OSHA 30-hour required; First Aid/CPR, MSHA (if applicable), and lift certifications preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong leadership and crew management skills
- In-depth knowledge of PEMB erection processes and sequencing
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, and structural and shop drawings
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
- Experience with jobsite software such as CMiC, Procore, or PlanGrid
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
Physical & Environmental Demands:
- Jobsite-based role with exposure to outdoor elements, varying weather conditions, and active construction environments.
- 100% travel to project sites across the U.S. required.
- Physical requirements include standing, walking, climbing ladders, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
