Full-Time County Contractual

Position open to all qualified candidates.

Location: 711 Bestgate Road, Annapolis, MD 21401 and 122 North Langley Road Suite A&B, Glen Burnie, MD 21060

Hours: Monday - Friday, 5:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

Benefits: Participation in the County's group health plan including prescription, dental, and optical, paid holidays and sick leave. Optional deferred compensation program at employee's own expense.

Job Description

Nature of Work:

Plays a vital role as part of a multidisciplinary team within the Road to Recovery Program. Functions as a non-clinical, peer-based team member by providing support, guidance, and encouragement to individuals recovering from opioid use disorder. Use personal experience of recovery to foster a supportive environment, help clients navigate the challenges of recovery, and promote engagement in treatment. Maintain a caseload providing peer recovery support services to program clients. Complete and maintain all associated documentation in an accurate and timely manner.

Meet with clinical staff and other treatment team members to support clients by providing input into developing a recovery plan and determining the steps to reduce barriers to recovery and their recovery goals.

Meet new patients early in treatment, conduct one-on-one sessions, lead or co-facilitate support groups and workshops focused on recovery topics and reach out to patients when they no-show for scheduled sessions to foster re-engagment.

Provide resource linkage to assist participants in meeting their medical, mental health and substance use recovery needs, and link the participant to professional treatment when necessary.

Engage or re-engage the participant with their supports in their community such as employment, education, housing, social services, and other related supports and activities. May provide direct accompaniment for the participant to new and/or uncomfortable environments, services and systems, when necessary and appropriate.

Use personal recovery experience to advocate for clients, coach and model effective coping skills, and develop trust, encourage, motivate and support the participant in making informed choices and guided decisions to establish or strengthen their recovery.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalency (GED)

Experience:

Minimum one year providing peer support services.

License or Certification:

Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) certification in Maryland.Driver's license required.

Desired or Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of resources and experience in connecting individuals to resources in Anne Arundel County. Experience, knowledge and respect of harm reduction principles and practice, including medications for opioid disorder.
