Must complete employee health meeting. Description: To help patients improve their ability to perform tasks in living and working environments. Implement treatments to develop, recover, or maintain the daily living and work skills of patients. Help clients improve their basic motor functions, reasoning abilities, and compensate for permanent loss of function. The goal is to help clients live independent, productive, and satisfying lives. Meets the patient's goals and needs and provides quality care by assessing and interpreting evaluations and test results. Determining occupational therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians and interdisciplinary team. Helps patients develop or regain physical or mental functioning or adjust to disabilities by implementing programs. Programs involve practice in functional, prevocational, vocational, and homemaking skills, activities of daily living, and sensorimotor, educational, recreational, and social activities. Issues adaptive equipment and customized splints as deemed necessary. Promotes maximum independence by selecting and constructing therapies according to individuals' physical capacity, intelligence level, and interest. Evaluates results of occupational therapy by observing, noting, and evaluating patient's progress. Recommends and implements adjustments and modifications as needed. Completes discharge planning by consulting with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare workers. Contributes to patient care conferences. Documents patient care services via EMR charting using defensible documentation in a timely and concise manner. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops. Reviews professional publications; establishes personal networks; participates in professional societies. Develops rehab and hospital staff by providing information; developing and conducting in-service training. Complies with federal, state, and local legal and certification requirements. Studies existing and new legislation; anticipates future legislation; enforces adherence; advises management on needed actions. Strives to promote health; create a safe and effective treatment environment. Motivates others; has a good bedside manner; listens; analyzes information; and is quality-focused. Participates in ongoing professional development to maintain a level of clinical practice consistent with best practice standards. Seeks opportunities to gain new knowledge and skills. For home health therapists, provides in-home occupational therapy services to homebound patients. Works in collaboration with the home health interdisciplinary team.
