Job Description :

The Patient Coordinator is responsible for performing a variety of customer service and patient care tasks to ensure a positive patient experience. They ensure documentation and patient records are prepared and organized, and that patients have a clear understanding of what to expect during and after their appointment.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Greets and assists patients, customers, and visitors in person and over the phone.
  • Performs patient registration in various systems.
  • Answers all phone calls in a professional and courteous manner.
  • May collect monies for time-of-service patient responsibility.
  • May verify insurance coverage and obtain prior authorization.
  • May perform preliminary screening of patients prior to procedures, including medical history.
  • May transport patients to/from the exam room.
  • Assists in patient transfer on/off the exam table.
  • Provides preliminary and post-procedure instructions to patients.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area.
  • May order supplies and ensure the work area is properly stocked.
  • Ensures accuracy of patient records and documentation.
  • Schedules patient appointments and obtains insurance verification and authorization as needed.
  • Prepares medical records for physicians, patients, and customers.
  • Ensures accurate documentation of patient visits in electronic systems and written documents.
  • Assists clinical staff with documentation and image delivery.
  • Performs all duties within HIPAA regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Position Requirements:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent.
    • CPR Certification required for Mobile Radiology and Oncology; a plus for Fixed Radiology.
    • Valid state driver's license if applicable.
    • Ability to work at multiple locations.
    • Organizational and multitasking skills.
    • Basic computer skills.
    • Local travel may be required.
    • COVID-19 vaccination may be required.
    • Pre-employment background check and drug screen required.

    Preferred:

    • Six months customer service or related experience.
    • Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus.
    • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

    Physical Requirements:

    May be exposed to outside weather, magnetic fields, radioactive materials, blood, body fluids, infectious diseases, noise, and travel. More than 50% of the time: sit, stand, walk, repetitive movements, communicate with patients. Less than 50% of the time: stoop, kneel, climb, lift, and transfer patients.
