Payroll Tax Specialist

Salary Range: $60,000-$90,000

Job Summary:

The Payroll Tax Specialist is responsible for the building, testing, and implementation of payroll tax, and QuickBooks Online API functions in the isolved system. We are looking for someone who enjoys payroll taxes, technology, accounting, research, and resolution.

Core Job Duties:

  • Manages the setup, testing, implementation and support of Tax in isolved.
  • File and pay client payroll taxes timely and accurately.
  • Prepare and file quarter and annual tax returns on time and accurately.
  • Update and Maintain Client Data.
  • Prepare and file amended tax returns while ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations are met.
  • Validate Client information reported to various state and federal agencies.
  • Perform independent research on tax related issues.
  • Coordinate printing/electronic filing of returns on behalf of clients.
  • Completing EFT registrations as needed and mail, email, or fax to agency.
  • Updates to existing Client rate changes via SUI Rate Exchange.
  • Articulating changes in tax compliance requirements to our Implementation Team.
  • Maintains superior customer service through assisting clients with solutions to complex problems.
  • Contributes to the evolution and improvement of the Payroll Tax Implementation process by providing feedback to increase customer satisfaction, drive efficiency or enhance our technical capability.
  • Adheres to company process and policies.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree (skilled in finance, tax, accounting preferred).
  • 2+ years of work experience in payroll tax.
  • Multi-tasking and strong customer service skills.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective and respectful communication skills.
  • Proficient in researching tax credit/overpayment notices.
  • Embraces constant change and welcomes it.
  • Can demonstrate working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and web-based applications.
  • Work well under pressure and can meet strict deadlines.

Education and Experience:

  • Possess a bachelor's degree (preferred).
  • Are savvy in multi-state tax and payroll rules.
  • Have experience in e-filing federal tax returns, state tax returns, and W-2's.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize projects without leaving the customer at risk.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude under challenging circumstances.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to instruct clients with both verbal and written instructions.
  • In depth knowledge isolved functionality in an assigned, specific area of support.
  • Excellent people skills.
  • Understanding of HR Products and Accruals.
  • Comfortable professionally speaking and supporting managers and business owners with accounting expertise and support.
  • Software implementation experience preferably in a SaaS environment.

Location: This position will be based in the USA (office and/or remote) and will require minimal travel.

Duration: This is a full time, permanent position.
