Job Summary: The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of employee compensation. This includes collecting and verifying timekeeping data, calculating wages, ensuring compliance with tax laws, and maintaining payroll records. The role also supports employee inquiries and collaborates with HR and Finance to resolve discrepancies. Key Responsibilities:
  • Collect and verify timekeeping and attendance records.
  • Process full-cycle payroll for multi-state employees, including bonuses, commissions, and deductions.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
  • Administer benefits-related deductions and coordinate with HR on enrollments and changes.
  • Prepare certified payroll and prevailing wage reports (especially for construction or government contracts).
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure data confidentiality.
  • Generate payroll reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist with audits and prepare payroll-related filings for government agencies.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, and benefits.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance payroll efficiency.
Qualifications:
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of payroll experience; construction or manufacturing industry experience is a plus
  • Proficiency in payroll systems such as ADP Workforce Now, Vista Viewpoint, BambooHR, or Sage 300
  • Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance standards.
  • High attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with multi-state payroll processing.
  • Familiarity with union payroll and benefits administration.
  • Strong Excel skills and comfort with data analysis.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
