Compensation Range: $65,000.00-$85,000.00/Year

What You'll Do: At Casa Bonita, every team member plays a vital role in creating memorable dining and entertainment experiences for our guests. The Payroll Specialist is a detail-oriented and dependable professional who is responsible for processing weekly payroll with accuracy, efficiency, and strict confidentiality. Reporting directly to the Human Resources Manager, this role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while maintaining meticulous payroll records and supporting audits and reporting requirements. While focusing on service and precision, the Payroll Specialist responds to employee inquiries and contributes to smooth payroll operations.
Responsibilities: - Payroll Processing Expertise (PPE): Serve as the subject matter expert in processing weekly payroll with accuracy, efficiency, and strict confidentiality
- Timekeeping & Wage Accuracy: Review and reconcile timekeeping records to ensure precise calculation of hours, wages, tips, and PTO
- Tax & Deduction Compliance: Ensure correct withholding of taxes, garnishments, and benefit deductions
- Employee Support & Service: Act as the first point of contact for employee questions related to payroll, timekeeping, and deductions, delivering timely and service-focused responses
- Reporting & Filing: Prepare and file payroll tax documents, including W-2s, 1099s, 1095s, and other filings, while maintaining accurate payroll records for audit readiness
- Benefits Integration & Invoice Reconciliation: Coordinate with the HR Manager to audit benefit deductions and reconcile insurance invoices
- Confidentiality & Compliance: Uphold the highest level of confidentiality in handling sensitive employee and payroll data in accordance with legal and company standards
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with the HR Manager and Finance department to support audits, year-end reporting, and compliance initiatives
- Employee Lifecycle Payroll Management: Manage payroll changes such as promotions, terminations, rate adjustments, and final payouts, while handling employment verifications, termination paperwork, and related documentation with professionalism and strict confidentiality.
- Process Improvement & System Knowledge: Recommend improvements to payroll workflows and stay up to date with system functionalities to increase efficiency
- Ad hoc duties: Support Human Resources and Finance department with additional tasks or special projects as needed
Qualifications/Skills: - Associate degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field
- Minimum of 4 years of payroll experience (Hospitality preferred)
- Prior experience with payroll software and timekeeping systems (Rippling and Toast preferred)
- Solid understanding of payroll laws and compliance requirements
- Strong facilitation, interpersonal, and communication skills
- High level of discretion when handling sensitive and confidential information
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Able to communicate effectively in English
- Must have reliable form of transportation
Preferred: Physical & Environmental Demands: - Able to distinguish colors and see both up close and at a distance
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk while using a computer
- Frequent typing, mouse use, and screen time, requiring strong hand-eye coordination and visual focus
- Potential eye strain from extended computer use, requiring periodic breaks to reduce fatigue
- Able to use headsets, dual monitors, or other ergonomic office tools for comfort and efficiency
- Able to use manual dexterity, gross motor skills, and fine motor skills
- Must be able to walk at least 3,000 steps per shift, including stairs, inclines, and declines
- Able to pivot, transition between seated and standing positions, kneel, stoop, and lift

- Able to multitask and work efficiently with speed, accuracy, and composure in a fast-paced, high-volume restaurant and entertainment venue
