Payroll SpecialistJob SummaryThe Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing payroll accurately and timely, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role involves handling employee compensation, tax withholdings, and benefits deductions while maintaining accurate payroll records. The Payroll Specialist collaborates with HR, Finance, and other departments to ensure payroll operations run smoothly and efficiently. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, knowledge of payroll systems, and a solid understanding of payroll laws and regulations.Job Responsibilities
  • Process bi-weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly payroll for employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Verify employee timesheets, hours worked, overtime, and deductions in compliance with company policies.
  • Process bonuses, commissions, garnishments, and other payroll adjustments.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws, labor regulations, and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records, including tax forms, direct deposit information, and employee earnings data.
  • Ensure accurate 401(k) contributions, health benefits deductions, and other payroll-related benefits.
  • Prepare and distribute W-2 forms at year-end.
  • Generate and distribute payroll reports for Finance, HR, and management as needed.
  • Assist with payroll audits, ensuring payroll records are accurate and compliant.
  • Address payroll-related inquiries from employees, resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Assist with new hire payroll onboarding, ensuring proper setup of direct deposit and tax forms.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in payroll processing.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field preferred (or equivalent work experience).
  • 2 years of payroll processing experience in a corporate or multi-state payroll environment.
  • Experience with ADP workforce now payroll or similar payroll systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas) and other reporting tools.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain payroll concepts to employees.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee data with discretion.
