HYBRID – PAYROLL SPECIALIST

Location; Salt Lake City, Utah (2 days remote, 3 days in office – Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday)

JOB DESCRIPTION

Key Responsibilities:

  • Payroll Processing
    • Manage and process bi-weekly or monthly payroll cycles, including the calculation of wages, overtime, bonuses, and deductions.
    • Ensure accuracy in data entry and payroll calculations.
  • Tax Compliance
    • Prepare and submit payroll tax filings, including federal, state, and local taxes, ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations.
    • Reconcile and resolve any tax discrepancies.
  • Benefits Administration
    • Administer employee benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other deductions.
    • Coordinate and verify benefit contributions and deductions.
  • Payroll Reporting
    • Generate and distribute payroll reports to management, HR, and finance teams as needed.
    • Prepare payroll-related reports for auditing and compliance purposes.
  • Compliance and Recordkeeping
    • Stay updated on federal and state labor laws and regulations related to payroll and ensure company compliance.
    • Maintain accurate and confidential payroll records.
  • Employee Inquiries
    • Address employee inquiries related to payroll, tax withholdings, and benefits promptly and professionally.
    • Provide assistance with payroll-related forms and documentation.
  • Process Improvement
    • Identify opportunities to streamline and improve payroll processes, recommending changes and automation when appropriate. Ensure payroll procedures align with best practices.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Profound knowledge on Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, or a related field is .
  • Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist or similar role, including hands-on experience with payroll software and systems.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and calculations.
  • Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive payroll information.
