Our client in the Greater Janesville area is looking for a Payroll Manager. This client is seeking someone with 5+ years of payroll experience. Prior management experience is preferred, but not required. Union payroll experience is a plus, and exposure to payroll software systems will be valuable. The Payroll Manager will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and oversee payroll processing for hourly, salaried, and union employees
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including taxes, deductions, and garnishments
  • Partner with HR and Finance to resolve payroll discrepancies and support audits
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and prepare reporting for leadership as needed
  • Implement process improvements to enhance payroll efficiency and accuracy
  • Support and mentor payroll team members
  • Serve as subject matter expert on payroll systems, policies, and procedures
  • Collaborate cross-functionally on projects impacting payroll operations
  • Ad hoc payroll projects and analysis as required

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred but not required
  • 5+ years of payroll experience required
  • Managerial or supervisory experience preferred, but not required
  • Union payroll experience strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with payroll software (ADP, Workday, Paylocity, or similar)
  • Strong knowledge of payroll compliance and best practices
  • Excellent attention to detail, confidentiality, and accuracy
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
