Our client in the Greater Janesville area is looking for a Payroll Manager. This client is seeking someone with 5+ years of payroll experience. Prior management experience is preferred, but not required. Union payroll experience is a plus, and exposure to payroll software systems will be valuable. The Payroll Manager will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage and oversee payroll processing for hourly, salaried, and union employees
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including taxes, deductions, and garnishments
- Partner with HR and Finance to resolve payroll discrepancies and support audits
- Maintain accurate payroll records and prepare reporting for leadership as needed
- Implement process improvements to enhance payroll efficiency and accuracy
- Support and mentor payroll team members
- Serve as subject matter expert on payroll systems, policies, and procedures
- Collaborate cross-functionally on projects impacting payroll operations
- Ad hoc payroll projects and analysis as required
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred but not required
- 5+ years of payroll experience required
- Managerial or supervisory experience preferred, but not required
- Union payroll experience strongly preferred
- Familiarity with payroll software (ADP, Workday, Paylocity, or similar)
- Strong knowledge of payroll compliance and best practices
- Excellent attention to detail, confidentiality, and accuracy
- Strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
