About the Role

As we continue to expand our reach, we are looking for a Payroll Manager to help advance our strategic development goals. Reporting to the CFO, the Payroll Manager will be responsible for payroll management and processing for multiple entities, in three states, with 1,500+ employees. The ideal candidate will possess an innate interest in helping to grow the Finance team to further our organizational success.

Responsibilities

  • Manages payroll for multiple entities encompassing a variety of industries including gaming, entertainment and technology.
  • Oversees and supervises the organization's payroll functions, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations.
  • Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates, new hires, terminations, changes to pay rates, PTO and PSL accrual and usages.
  • Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
  • Provides payroll information by answering questions and requests from employees and stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing systems and procedures.
  • Maintains payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for the development and preparation of Excel reports, and other tools for analyzing various aspects of company performance. Reviews and presents data to Senior Management.
  • Assists with the development and tracking of various departmental and corporate metrics/KPIs.
  • Partners with the accounting department on current ERP implementation to maximize organizational efficiency.
  • Assist with recruiting and training new staff in the department as needed.
  • Executes special ad-hoc projects as needed

Experiences & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources or related field required.
  • 5+ years of experience in payroll management in a complex environment with 1,000+ employees, both hourly and salaried, with 24/7 operations in multiple states.
  • Understanding of California wages requirements and payroll laws and regulations.
  • Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal controls, and payroll taxes.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel (including knowledge of pivot tables, v-lookups, and other key analytical techniques) required

Qualities & Preferences

  • Stellar analytical abilities. Able to evaluate data and compile concise reports and presentations.
  • Strong problem solving, multitasking and information analysis skills.
  • Prioritizes and works well under pressure to meet deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Positive, highly adaptable, collaborative, team player, with an entrepreneurial mind set.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills preferred.
  • Prior experience with payroll software implementations especially UKG and ADP a plus.
  • Payroll Processing Training Certification a plus.
  • Experience managing organizations with minimum annual revenue of $20M preferred.
