Hunter Hamilton is seeking a Temporary to Possible Hire Payroll Manager to support a leading organization in Mableton, GA. This is a hybrid opportunity offering a blend of onsite and remote work. The ideal candidate will bring proven payroll leadership experience and the ability to manage complex, multi-state payroll operations. The assignment is estimated to last through the end of the year, with flexibility to work up to 10-hour days during peak periods.

Key Responsibilities:
Oversee day-to-day payroll operations, ensuring full compliance with state and federal laws and company policies
Accurately manage weekly, biweekly, monthly, and special compensation payrolls, including special check issuance
Coordinate the production and distribution of all employee tax statements and notifications
Maintain and improve payroll systems and records, including time and attendance, funding, earnings, and deduction tracking
Provide leadership and direction to payroll staff, including training, workflow planning, and performance evaluation
Ensure SOX compliance, payroll system integrity, and policy adherence through regular audits and documentation
Lead cross-functional collaboration with HR and Finance teams, including support for mergers and acquisitions
Manage payroll-related communications and documentation, ensuring clarity and accuracy across departments
Support the development of the annual payroll department budget and continuous process improvements
Provide exceptional customer service, responding to payroll inquiries and resolving issues efficiently
What We're Looking For:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Payroll or Accounting
Strong working knowledge of multi-state payroll processes and compliance, with California-specific expertise preferred
Experience using and managing automated payroll and HRIS platforms
Ability to lead under pressure, maintain confidentiality, and handle sensitive information with professionalism
Proven skills in data analysis, decision-making, and managing conflicting priorities
Advanced communication skills-verbal and written-with the ability to work across all levels of an organization
Intermediate or above proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office applications
Demonstrated leadership in driving accuracy, compliance, and efficiency within payroll functions
