Job Summary: The Payroll Generalist will perform a variety of tasks to include payroll support to the New York State and Research Foundation payroll systems. Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and process complex payroll transactions and relateddocuments.
  • Answer standard payroll questions, and provide payrollcustomer service to agency employees by applying policies, rules andregulations issued by the Office of the State Comptroller, theDepartment of Civil Service and the Division of the Budget.
  • Will processpayroll records by entering changes in exemptions, job title anddepartment/division transfers, or other information as needed.
  • Determine payroll liabilities by calculating employee federaland state income and social security taxes and employer's socialsecurity, unemployment, and workers compensation payments andother such liabilities as necessary.
  • Contribute to the team effort byaccomplishing related results as needed.
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies bycollecting and analyzing information and implementing changes.
  • Participate in continuous process improvement efforts to support currentand future systems enhancements.
  • Prepare payroll reports by compilingsummaries of information such as earnings, taxes, deductions, leave,disability and nontaxable wages.
  • Providepayroll information to supervisors, customers and other approvedpersons.
  • Provide internal and externalcustomer service to agency employee.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of payrollrecords, Adhere to all New York State regulatory requirements andSUNY policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications: Associate's degree and two (2) years relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Candidate must have the ability to analyze information, possess strong data entry skills with focus on high quality work. Ability to pay close attention to detail and confidentiality, thoroughness, general math skills, reporting skills. Strong verbal and written communication and organizational skills. Ability work in a team environment and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization. Proficient with MS Office suite and a variety of electronic data base systems is necessary. Preferred Qualifications: Previous Payroll experience in State and/or Healthcare setting preferred. Work Days: Monday -Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Message to Applicants: Salary Range:$45,000 - $55,000 RecruitmentOffice: Human Resources
