Your Impact As a core part of our mission to innovate the digital subscription market, we are seeking an experienced Payments & Subscription Experience Lead to build the roadmap for our subscriber experience. This role will be pivotal in translating strategic initiatives into actionable increments that increase subscriber engagement, monthly active users, and overall revenue by nurturing our subscription services. Reporting directly to leadership and partnering with the Senior Product Manager, Subscriber Acquisition, this role is uniquely poised to enhance our organization's subscription-based services by optimizing subscriber retention and building community among our membership base. This position will also oversee crucial operational interactions with third-party payment platforms, managing customer payment functionalities and subscription transactions. ResponsibilitiesWhat You'll Do:
  • Collaborate deeply with cross-functional teams, including design, engineering, editorial, marketing, data, analytics and legal to deepen subscriber loyalty, focusing on retention strategies, payment functionality, and community engagement.
  • Own and optimize the functionality of the subscriber payment experience, including troubleshooting refund issues with payment partners, optimizing billing practices to streamline acceptance, triaging outages and integrating new payment-related vendors.
  • Innovate tools and platforms to build a community-led subscription environment.
  • Facilitate A/B testing and data-driven approaches for subscriber journey improvements.
  • Analyze data to gain insights into subscriber behaviors and refine retention approaches.
  • Track & manage KPIs to measure effectiveness in payment operations and subscriber engagement.
Qualifications Who You Are:
  • 3+ years experience in product management running scrum teams in an Agile environment.
  • Experience in managing payment platforms, optimizing B2C financial transactions, and evaluating payment gateway efficiency.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and generate insights.
  • In-depth knowledge of digital marketing, experimentation and growth strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex projects.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Preferred Experience:
  • Background in building or licensing community engagement features for digital platforms.
  • Knowledge of subscription core metrics in competitive markets.
  • Experience in subscription-based digital media products.

The base salary for this role is between $149,000 - $175,000. The actual base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as: transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands.
