The Patient Transport Driver plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and compassionate transportation of patients to and from our facility. This position not only involves operating the facility van but also assisting with direct patient care and performing maintenance tasks after transport duties are completed. You'll be working with a diverse patient population, including pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely transport patients using the facility van while providing assistance as needed.
- Help in maintaining the van and ensure it remains in top condition for patient use.
- Support patients during transfers, ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Assist with direct patient care activities as required.
Qualifications:
- Valid driver's license for the appropriate vehicle class.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required.
- High School diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous experience in transportation is mandatory.
- Must be at least 25 years of age.
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent active listening skills with the ability to make decisions and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Detail-oriented with proficiency in time management and critical thinking.
- Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift, lower, push, pull, and retrieve objects weighing at least 30 pounds.
- Visual acuity and good speech recognition are necessary for optimal patient care.
Work Environment:
- Work primarily in a temperature-controlled, indoor environment with occasional outdoor exposure.
- May require exposure to blood and body fluids.
- Role may involve working under stress during critical situations, such as disasters.
