Non-clinical support duties, emotional reassurance to patients, and assistance with maintaining a clean and safe environment. Essential Functions. Maintain constant visual observation of assigned patient; never leave the patient alone or out of sight. Alert nursing staff promptly when patient requires assistance or shows changes in condition. Provide emotional support and companionship to patients. Accompany patients off unit for tests or procedures, remaining in close proximity. Report any hazards or safety concerns to the nurse and help maintain a neat, orderly patient room. Record patient behavior and significant events as directed. Adhere to infection control and isolation procedures in accordance with facility policies. Follow RN directions regarding observation protocols, documentation, and response to patient behaviors. Perform basic support tasks including helping set up meal trays, removing trash, and assisting with linens.
