Job Description :

The Patient Services Coordinator performs clerical and patient service tasks at the front desk of University Health Services and provides customer service for a diverse population of university age patients in a university setting. This full-time, year round position coordinates all operational support functions in a patient care area such as overseeing the environmental conditions of the office and patient waiting areas, coordinating non-medical equipment repairs, inventorying, and ordering supplies, assisting in the orientation of new staff to clerical procedures.

Responsibilities include:

  • Order, receive, monitor and maintain clinic inventory (general medical and office supplies); initiate corrective actions in the areas of purchasing and accounts payable; monitor and maintain inventory control and record keeping systems
  • Assist with medical billing and insurance tasks
  • Process and maintain student immunity requirement records (COVID-19, measles)
  • Provide support for staff travel and training
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and two consecutive years of medical office experience
  • Strong written and speaking communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in dynamic work environment
  • Experience performing complex scheduling
  • Understanding and experience working within FERPA and/or HIPAA requirements
  • Experience using an electronic medical record
  • Demonstrated ability to advance equity and support the development of students who are disabled, BIPOC, and LGBTQ+, including students who hold multiple marginalized identities.
  • Ability to work successfully with and support a diverse staff, and a strong commitment to creating an inclusive environment for staff and students.
  • A strong commitment to creating a culturally responsive environment for staff and students, the delivery of programs that support diversity objectives, and the development of cultural engagement and responsiveness skills-Ability to handle confidential information

Special Requirements:

  • Successful fit testing and the ability to wear a N95 mask for several hours
  • Maintains tetanus, pertussis, influenza & COVID vaccinations
  • Proof of measles, mumps, rubella, hep B & varicella immunity

Preferred Qualifications

  • Work experience in an Urgent Care, Family Practice, or Higher Education Clinic
  • Current Certified Medical Assistant
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology and medical terminology
  • Knowledge and experience using CPT and ICD-10 coding for insurance billing
  • Basic accounting/inventory knowledge and experience
  • Fluency in more than one language - medical interpretation skills not required for consideration
  • Record of commitment to advancing access, diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in higher education and/or the workplace setting
  • Ability to identify and collaborate to remove inequities, barriers to access, and forms of oppression that may be present in the programming or services related to this position
  • Experience delivering services to [students/individuals/communities] who hold marginalized identities, such as Latine and Black students, disabled students, and/or LGBTQ+ students
