Patient Service Representative

The Patient Services Representative is responsible for enhancing the patient's overall experience during their visit. The Representative will achieve this by working directly with patients to assist with the admission and check in process, review insurance eligibility and financial responsibilities, and schedule appointments. The Representative will be responsible to collect any patient co-pays or outstanding balances. They will also need to complete other tasks that contribute to the day-to-day functions of the office.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Greet, educate, and instruct patients through admission and check in process.
  • Verify patient information and check in patients for scheduled appointments.
  • Notify patient of insurance benefits and financial responsibilities.
  • Answer telephone and direct calls appropriately.
  • Schedule patient appointments.
  • Manage clinical schedules and assist clinical staff as needed.
  • Monitor account balances, payment plans, and collection reports.
  • Cross-train with county patient services staff and help cover county offices when requested.
  • Perform cash handling responsibilities and daily reconciliation of cash drawer.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Complete all administrative paperwork in UKG and Company Mileage if applicable.
  • Support the team and be respectful of others.
  • Attend all mandatory meetings and trainings scheduled by the Learning & Development Team or supervisor.
  • Complete General Orientation upon hire.
  • Complete Annual All Staff Training every year on the required topics assigned by the Learning & Development Team.
  • Complete all mandatory trainings assigned by the Learning & Development Team or supervisor related to the position within the appropriate time frame.
  • Abide by all company policies and procedures, which include but are not limited to:

  • Accurately document services in NextGen.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Certificate or Professional License: No certificates or professional license required
  • Valid driver's license and active liability insurance.
  • Satisfactory results from criminal and driving record background checks
  • Must be a minimum 18 years of age.

As a State-Of-the-Art Healthcare Organization and a Federal Contractor Agency we require all individuals who join Team Bowen to receive a flu shot between the months of October - March and TB test to further protect our staff and the patients we serve. There are options for exemption applications, but approval is not always guaranteed.
