Patient Service Representative

MaineGeneral Health is seeking a friendly, organized, and detail-oriented Patient Service Representative (PSR) to join our team at the Ballard Center in Augusta. In this role, you'll be the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while supporting the administrative needs of the clinical team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greet patients and visitors with professionalism and compassion, ensuring a positive experience.
  • Answer incoming calls and assist with inquiries while supporting clinical department needs.
  • Schedule appointments using computerized scheduling systems.
  • Verify insurance benefits and obtain precertification/authorization as needed.
  • Process patient payments, including co-pays and deductibles, and refer patients to financial counselors when appropriate.
  • Accurately collect and enter demographic, billing, and clinical information into the registration system in a timely manner.
  • Perform general clerical tasks to support the smooth delivery of patient care.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a healthcare or customer service setting preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and a patient-focused approach.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with both clinical and administrative teams.
  • Familiarity with electronic scheduling and health record systems is a plus.
