Patient Safety Monitoring Technician Details Essential Job Duties:

  • Performs a variety of duties and services involving vital sign surveillance by observing data generated from the remote monitoring system.
  • Assists staff in emergencies as directed; notifies appropriate personnel of emergency situations; follow established emergency protocols, remains calm throughout such procedures.
  • Performs Visual Monitor duties as applicable.
  • Provide continuous observation and surveillance of assigned patients.
  • Demonstrates understanding and proficiency of the use of the visual monitor equipment.
  • Maintains visual observation of the patients assigned at all times. Verbally redirects patient over digital 2-way audio device that is in the patient room.
  • Immediately summons the nursing staff if the patient requires assistance.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skill necessary to provide the appropriate observation to the patient population requiring monitoring.
  • Participates in report with on-coming monitor staff when arriving for shift and upon completion of shift.
  • Provides patient with explanations as necessary, but does not counsel or provide opinions.
  • Provides floor staff with information in a timely fashion when patient appears to pose a threat to themselves or others.
  • Participates in a collaborative identification and reporting of patient safety issues. Assures patient environmental safety. Seeks assistance with removal of any potential safety hazard from room and reports findings to the appropriate staff members.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Current Healthcare Student
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology
  • License/Certification: Healthcare BLS level of CPR required
