Job DetailsJob Location Woodbridge, VA Salary Range $1618.00 - $18.00 Hourly Job Shift Any Description Patient Safey Associate Employee Type: Full-Time/Part-Time Job Type: Hospitality/HealthCare Experience: High school diploma/GED Job Summary The Patient Safety Sitter plays an important role in keeping patients safe and comfortable. Working under the guidance of nurses and managers, the sitter watches patients closely, helps prevent accidents or injuries, and provides calm, respectful support. This role is essential in making sure patients feel secure during their hospital stay. Key Responsibilities
  • Observe patients closely at all times to ensure their safety and well-being.
  • Report changes in patient behavior or condition to the nurse immediately.
  • Help calm or redirect patients using gentle conversation or appropriate activities.
  • Keep the area clean and safe by following hospital safety rules.
  • Maintain patient privacy and follow confidentiality policies (HIPAA).
  • Work closely with the care team, including nurses, managers, and other sitters.
  • Follow instructions from the nurse in charge and ask for help when needed.
  • Support basic comfort needs, such as helping with blankets or positioning if allowed.
  • Stay alert and attentive throughout the entire shift.
  • Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications Qualifications and Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
  • Good communication skills and the ability to stay calm under pressure
  • A strong sense of responsibility and focus on safety
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for long periods
  • Must pass a background check and drug screening
  • Willingness to complete required training, including:
  • Patient Safety Sitter (PSS) Program
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (AHA)
  • Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) training
Physical Requirements
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, talk, see, and hear.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 75 pounds occasionally. Must be able to push and pull 75 pounds frequently and 100 pounds occasionally.
  • Must be able to push and pull (in wheelchair) 100 to 350 pounds, frequently over considerable distances.
  • The ability to work flexible schedules and extended hours such as weekends, holidays, and longer shifts is sometimes required.
