Job Title: Patient Registrar – Surgical

Location: Flushing, NY 11355

Assignment Duration: 26 Weeks

Schedule: Monday – Friday | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Pay Rate: $20 – $23 per hour (based on experience)

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Patient Registrar – Surgical to join a busy healthcare team in Flushing, NY. This individual will be responsible for patient scheduling, insurance verification, prior authorizations, and front-end administrative functions within a surgical department. A strong background in healthcare registration, attention to detail, and familiarity with EMR systems (preferably EPIC) is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Schedule surgical and procedural appointments accurately and efficiently
  • Verify insurance eligibility and benefits for imaging, surgical procedures, and medications
  • Obtain prior authorizations for imaging and medications as required
  • Perform accurate data entry and maintain up-to-date patient records in the EMR system
  • Work closely with patients, providers, and insurance companies to resolve any coverage or authorization issues
  • Maintain high standards of confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations
  • Provide professional, courteous, and empathetic customer service to patients and families
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to ensure optimal patient experience and workflow

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED (Required)
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a healthcare administrative or patient registration role (Required)
  • Prior experience scheduling procedures and obtaining prior authorizations for imaging and medications (Required)
  • Experience with insurance verification and benefits eligibility (Required)
  • Experience using EPIC or similar Electronic Medical Record systems (Preferred)
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Ability to multitask and remain detail-oriented in a fast-paced environment
