Responsibilities
The Patient Registration Representative ensures a positive patient experience by providing friendly coordination and support during registration and other non-clinical interactions throughout the patient's stay. This role involves assisting with patient identification, collecting demographic information, cashiering, financial counseling, and advocating for government programs, while addressing the non-clinical needs of patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities:
Facilitate a welcoming and positive experience for patients through reception, registration, and advocacy.
Collect and verify accurate patient demographics and ensure proper identification.
Provide cashiering services, financial counseling, and support for government program enrollment.
Address non-clinical patient and family needs with professionalism and empathy.
Uphold the Mission and Core Values of Community Hospital of San Bernardino and contribute to the hospital's strategic and quality improvement goals.
This position requires strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to patient-centered service.
Qualifications
High School diploma GED or equivalent.
Minimum 1 year of experience working in a hospital Patient Registration department physician office setting healthcare insurance company revenue cycle vendor and/or other revenue cycle related roles.
Thorough understanding of insurance policies and procedures. Working knowledge of medical terminology.
Able to perform basic mathematics for payment calculation.
Experience in requesting and processing financial payments.
Intermediate to advanced computer skills.
Knowledge of charity care programs as well as the various government and nongovernment programs preferred.
