Patient Companion - CHI Mercy Health : Job Details

Of position provides ongoing observation either through in person or through Camera/ Monitor technology of patients on suicide prevention watch as a result of identified risk factor and high risk patient fall risk, and monitors patients for signs of detrition, agitation, impulsiveness and/or attempts to get of bed/chair unassisted, for pulling on lines, tubes or other medical devices and for vomiting in patients wearing C-pap or Bi-pap masks. Work also includes establishing/maintaining effective communication channels with bedside direct patient care staff, reporting potentially dangerous changes in patient behavior, and escalating communications as necessary using established protocols and best judgment. Essential Functions:Must maintain visible contact with the patient at all times. Promptly communicates all patient requests to assigned staff. Documents utensils into and out of patient room.
