Patient Care Technician - University of Pittsburgh Medical Center : Job Details

Welcome patients, obtain weight and vital signs, escort them to rooms, and assist with pre-operative preparation. Support Phase II Recovery by obtaining post-operative vitals and helping patients prepare for discharge. Assist with daily living activities including hygiene, mobility, toileting, and nutrition. Perform clinical tasks such as blood glucose monitoring, specimen collection, bladder scans, 12-lead EK - Gs, and Foley catheter care. Respond to call lights, assist with patient transport, and contribute to overall unit operations. Communicate clearly and effectively with patients, families, and the care team; promptly report changes in patient condition. Provide education and emotional support to patients and families under the direction of the RN. Maintain safety and infection control protocols and adhere to hospital policies at all times. Participate in continuous learning, feedback, and department initiatives.
