Summary This position serves as a resource to the Breast Health Program and is responsible for the patient flow throughout the breast care continuum. This involves tracking and facilitating the scheduling of different modality breast imaging and biopsies, and other related breast procedures. The coordinator is responsible for obtaining and reviewing provider orders for accuracy of protocol and diagnosis, monitoring compliance and follow up imaging, data collection and extrapolation, answering phones calls, taking messages and relaying them appropriately, and miscellaneous errands such as delivery of images, supplies, reports, obtaining priors imaging/reports etc. throughout the medical center. This position is also responsible for proper documentation with patients and provider offices to ensure efficient communication. Acts as a liaison between the breast cancer nurse navigator, provider offices, and MyMichigan Health scheduling. Works with imaging staff to ensure proper scheduling on the grid and maintains grid changes per volumes. Appropriate routing of paperwork and requisition for patient care is essential. Solely responsible for the clerical management of the breast cancer risk assessment program. This position works independently without direct supervision. Responsibilities (25%)*Works independently to monitor compliance of additional breast imaging tests, biopsies, and referrals through dashboards or appropriate work ins.. (25%)*Coordinates patient flow throughout the breast care continuum by pre-registering and scheduling patient appointments. Obtaining accurate orders for testing by verifying diagnosis and protocol. (25%)*Collects data and generates statistical reports outlining patient demographics, volumes, and referral trends. Maintains the imaging department grids to ensure efficiency to the department for breast scheduling. (25%)*Performs appropriate tasks on computer systems including order entry and PACS image management. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Transports resources throughout medical center as needed. Process telephone calls for messages; transport needs, prep instructions, and service coordination with appropriate follow through Problem resolution, trouble shooting of systems and processes, training others, and maintaining skills. Certifications and Licensures N/A Required Education High School Diploma or GED Other Information REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS: Basic knowledge of personal computer including data entry into Microsoft OfficeSuite/PowerPoint/Excel/Word needed to establish record keeping systems and generate reports. Organizational and time management skills needed to prioritize daily workload. Interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with individuals and groups and interact with people at all levels to communicate ideas and concepts in a clear and understandable manner. Mandatory tuberculosis (TB) testing must be done as requested. Mandatory Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training must be done annually according to the Exposure Control Plan. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS: Knowledge of radiology practices, policies, and procedures and medical terminology as normally acquired through 1-year experience working in a Medical Center or similar setting preferred. PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death. Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position. Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description. Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s). Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching. Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required. Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake. Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis. Physical Demand Level: Medium. Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 21-50 lbs., frequently 34-66% of the workday 20 lbs. and or Walk/Stand/Push/Pull of Arm/Leg controls and constantly (67-100% or the workday) 10 lbs.
