Position Summary:

The Patient Care Assistant will assist patients in meeting their basic human needs and activities of daily living under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). You will promote clear communication with patients, families, and team members, while maintaining a safe and clean environment. Reporting directly to the Clinical Nurse Manager, your role includes maintaining accurate medical records.

Education/Certification:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant program is preferred, but not required.
  • Active Certified Nurse Assistant certification upon hire.
  • Completion of classroom education on Nurse Aide competencies with verification required during the new employee orientation.
  • Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support is required upon hire or must be obtained within the new employee orientation period.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide general patient care that addresses physical and psychosocial needs within your practice scope.
  • Assist with the admission, transfer, and discharge processes of patients.
  • Effectively communicate any changes in patient status to the RN or LPN.
  • Document and report patient data accurately.
  • Ensure patient safety and promote positive outcomes in care delivery.
  • Adapt and function effectively in a fast-paced, stressful environment.
  • Transport patients safely to different departments as required.
  • Perform various delegated duties to support unit functionality.
