Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Care:
- Record patient vital signs, conduct TB tests, and perform blood draws.
- Ensure smooth and efficient patient flow during their visits.
- Assist with administrative tasks to facilitate patient care.
- Prepare lab specimens for shipment.
- Maintain a well-organized work environment with adequate laboratory supplies.
- Contribute to the treatment philosophy and enhancement of patient care services.
- Coordination and Communication:
- Liaise with various teams regarding patient appointments.
- Participate in required meetings and collaborate effectively with the center team.
- Consult with team members about lab testing, results, and any patient issues.
- Documentation and Compliance:
- Collect laboratory specimens accurately and in compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Review, post, and disseminate lab results promptly.
- Ensure accurate and thorough documentation in the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.
- Manage patient accounts, including insurance and billing details.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Empathetic and compassionate, effectively supporting patients on their recovery journey.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of colleagues and patients.
- Proficient in problem-solving with a sense of urgency to meet patient needs.
- Collaborative team player in a multidisciplinary healthcare setting.
- Adaptable and agile in a changing work environment.
- Comfortable utilizing various technology for communication and documentation, including familiarity with MS Office software.
- Committed to compliance and integrity in adhering to work standards and regulatory requirements.
- Familiarity with HIPAA and 42-CFR Part 2 is a plus.
- Prior experience with harm reduction methods is advantageous.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Preferred: At least 2 years of prior experience as a medical assistant.
- Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
