The Advocate: demonstrates excellent CARES customer service and communication skills; strong critical thinking skills; accurate non-judgmental interpretation of customer needs; efficient processing of requests with maturity, empathy, tact and patience; and demonstration of adherence to HIPAA privacy, rights and confidentiality standards. The Patient Advocate completes unit-based patient, family, and visitors; acts as liaison during the complaint review process; assists with CARES customer service program and the operational aspects of the Patient Experience Department.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Current healthcare customer service experience. Must have proficient computer-based application and office equipment skills. Experience with electronic medical records. Experience with EPIC is preferred. Experience in handling confidential materials. Superior customer service skills, good judgment and problem-solving ability with attention to detail are required. Professional appearance and behaviors are a must. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing in a clear manner using appropriate grammar and spelling. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint. Ability to maintain logs, create memos, reports and other documents that are professional and grammatically correct. Highly organized, maintaining a neat and tidy work environment. Proficient multi-tasking skills required. Must be able to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays. Must be able to work with minimal direct supervision.Preferred Qualifications: Current Louisiana LPN Licensure, EMT-Basic certification, Medical Assistant certification or other nationally recognized healthcare role certification preferred.PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time. Lifting at least 20 pounds is required.
