Essential Functions and Basic Duties Position Specific Performance Expectations: o Greeting patients in person and on the phone in a friendly and courteous manner. o Obtain and verify patient information o Answer and direct incoming calls. o Accurately admits/registers patients for all services performed at MRH. o Time of service collections of co-pays and such as needed. o Process all returned mail. o Act as a liaison between patient, families, physicians and care team. o Participates in interdepartmental process improvements and process evaluation efforts. o Acts as an internal consultant and educator to hospital staff in area of expertise. o Strive to ensure continual compliance with Patient Access Department policies and procedures. o Can identify and access system to report abuse to employees and/or patients. o Establishes a good rapport and working relationship with other departments. o Coordinates insurance, preauthorization, benefits verification and pre-registration activities. o Prioritizes workload and completes assignments within allotted time. Works as a team with co-workers. o Assists in orientation of new employees. o Proficient in the duties in both outpatient and Emergency Departments. o Cross trains in other departments as needed. o Educate patients for financial assistance. o Completion of miscellaneous reports. o Performs other duties as assigned. Organization Wide Performance Expectations: o Demonstrates commitment to performing according to the CHOICE values of MRH and representing the organization in a positive and professional manner. o Maintains patient confidentiality at all times. o Upholds regulatory requirements to ensure continual compliance with departmental, hospital, state and federal regulations and policies. o Follows all policies and procedures to ensure a safe environment for patients, public and staff. o Completes annual education, training, in-service, and licensure/certification requirements; attends departmental and organizational staff meetings or reads meeting minutes. o Reports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work within designated timeframes. o Establishes and maintains effective verbal and written communication and good working relationships with all patients, staff and vendors. o Utilizes initiative; strives to maintain steady level of productivity; self-motivated; manages activity and time. o Actively participates in departmental and facility performance improvement and continuous quality initiatives. Qualifications Minimum Requirements: o Must be at least 16 years of age (21 for driving positions) o Must be able to legally work in the United States o Must be able to pass a background check o Must be able to pass a drug screen and breath alcohol test (if applicable) o Must complete employee health meeting Education/Licensure/Certification: o High School Diploma or equivalent preferred o Unencumbered License/Certification (if applicable) Experience: o Familiar with Medical Terminology helpful o Past knowledge of all Microsoft Office products o Bilingual preferred Position Classification: Non-exemptCompensation Range: $19.16 to $26.82Benefits: Medical, Dental, Life, Retirement, Paid Time Off Equal Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
