Pathology Assistant Histology - Ajulia Executive Search : Job Details

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the overall efficiency of the Pathology Department and laboratory service in a cost-effective manner by performing a variety of tasks, consisting primarily of gross examination of surgical pathology specimens and the assisting with Quality Assurance processes.
• The incumbent will describe and examine surgical specimens and prepare such specimens for histological processing.
• This position will also assist supervisory staff in a team effort to complete work in the grossing area in an efficient manner striving to optimize the workflow.
• Project management, budget development and maintenance, management of supplies and resources.
• Assist in all aspects of anatomic pathology and participates in seminars.
• Complex surgical resections (pelvic exenterations, whipple procedures, etc.) and autopsies including gross, PAD/FAD, and clinical summary.

Education & Experience

• Baccalaureate Pathologist Assistant program graduate; or successful completion of post-bachelor's Program from an NACCLS approved school of Pathologist' Assistants
• Post-Baccalaureate training in anatomic and clinical pathology preferred
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in pathology - surgical gross pathology, frozen section cutting, and autopsy.

Licenses, Certifications, Registrations

• NYS Licenses Pathology Assistant
• Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP)
