Position: Pathologist Assistant / Grossing Technician

Location: Boston, MA

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 10:30 AM – 7:00 PM

Pay Rate: $35 - $39 per hour

Job Description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Pathologist Assistant or Grossing Technician to perform complete dissection, gross description, selection, and submission of tissue samples for microscopic examination and special studies in accordance with departmental and laboratory guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform specimen dissection and gross description following departmental protocols.
• Select and submit tissue samples for microscopic and special studies.
• Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing.
• Adhere to quality control and quality assurance policies.
• Assist in other departmental rotations as assigned.
• Maintain a professional and safe laboratory environment.
• Identify and report any issues affecting test performance or results.
• Follow hazardous waste management and bloodborne pathogen safety protocols.
• Experience with frozen section cutting is preferred.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, or a related science.
• Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) highly preferred.
• Completion of a NAACLS accredited Pathologist Assistant program acceptable in lieu of experience.
• Experience in a high-volume clinical laboratory preferred.
• Proficient with computers and laboratory information systems.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Ability to handle physical demands of the position.
• Must pass a standardized color vision screening.
• Flexibility to work overtime or alternate shifts as needed.
