Part Time Weekend Computer Operator

Location: Fort Wayne, IN

Level: Hourly

Division/ Department: IT / Technology SecOps

Reports to: Manager of Network Operations

Travel: N/A

Alternating Weekend Schedule:

Weekend #1 Friday night 11 PM - 9:30 AM. (10 hours) Saturday night 9 PM - 7:30 AM (10 hours) Weekend #2 Saturday 9 AM - 9:30 PM (12 hours)

About the role:

This position runs network systems processing per schedule and requests, monitors disk space, communication lines, and the computer system as a whole on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and responds to operating and error messages. Level one diagnostics on infrastructure alerts and providing desktop support. The ability to achieve results with minimum supervision and adheres to a culture of promptness, dependable, reliable and being a team player. Ability to lift 30 lbs.

Responsibilities:

● Monitor the system for equipment failure or errors in performance.

● Respond to program error messages by contacting on-call support personnel.

● Answer telephone calls to assist computer users encountering problems.

● Be aware of procedures under abnormal situations, i.e. retail service center down, disaster recovery, etc.

● Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.

● Keeping up-to-date technically and applying new knowledge to the job.

● Providing information to manager, co-workers in written form, e-mail, or in person.

● Assisting with support help desk tickets (tier 1) including system security tasks.

Education and Experience Minimum:

● A two year degree or working towards a technical field or equivalent experience.

● Training specific to computer operations; for instance, technical school, etc.

● Familiar with a variety of Network Operating Center hardware, including printers and disk drives, servers, routers, etc.

● Ability to work in a team environment and independently, extremely reliable and dependable.

● Training and experience with other Network Operating software, windows server, networking systems, job scheduling, backup software, active directory, G-suite, etc.

Core Competencies Familiarization with Data Center Standard Operating Procedures – within first week

● Review runbooks and operations documentation

● Discuss with Manager any questions you may have either company or operational.

● Discuss with training operator Familiarization with Data Center Hardware – within the first four weeks.

● Explanation and configuration of hardware in the Data Center with Manager.

● Hands-on instruction with training operator Familiarization with Data Center Software – within the first four weeks

● Overview and functions of software used in the Data Center with Manager as needed.

● Hands-on instruction with training operator
