Job Title: Part-Time Respiratory Therapist

Department: NWH Respiratory Therapy

Location: Newark Wayne Community Hospital

Hours Per Week: 24 hours

Schedule: Night 2 x12 hour shifts 7pm to 730am with rotating weekends and holidays

SUMMARY

The Respiratory Therapist plays a vital role in enhancing patient care by developing and implementing personalized care plans. In this position, you will conduct cardiopulmonary evaluations, administer vital respiratory therapies, and provide education to patients, families, and healthcare team members.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Review and assess patient records, including medical history, clinical exams, and respiratory care orders.
• Analyze lab results and other reports relevant to patient care.
• Advise medical providers on effective respiratory procedures tailored to patient situations.
• Select, prepare, and maintain respiratory equipment, ensuring proper functioning and cleanliness.
• Administer and document treatments such as medication delivery, airway care, and ventilator support.
• Monitor patient responses and adapt treatment methods as needed.
• Educate patients and families about therapeutic procedures and document these interactions.
• Develop and update respiratory care plans in line with departmental protocols.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Maintain ACLS certification and effectively manage emergency situations.
• Communicate patient status updates to the healthcare team as per departmental guidelines.
• Assist in training and orienting new team members and students in respiratory care techniques.
• Perform any other assigned duties to support the department.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Associate's degree in Respiratory Care or an equivalent certification.
• Active New York State Respiratory Therapist (RT) license with current registration.

OR

• New York State Respiratory Therapy Technician (RTT) license AND active National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credentials.
• Current ACLS certification required within one year of hire.

EDUCATION:

AS: Respiratory Therapy (Required)

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:

ACLS - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, RT - Respiratory Therapist - New York State Education Department (NYSED)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or more than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing, or squatting.

PAY RANGE: $36.05 - $47.38
