Overview: As a vital member of our healthcare team, the Phlebotomist II serves as the first point of contact for patients, ensuring that each individual feels welcomed and informed during their visit. This role involves skillfully and safely drawing quality blood samples from patients and preparing the specimens for laboratory testing while adhering to established practices and protocols.
In this position, you will:
- Provide exceptional care by clearly explaining procedures to patients and creating a trusting atmosphere.
- Demonstrate leadership by focusing on process excellence and maintaining confidentiality of patient information.
- Perform daily tasks accurately and punctually, under the guidance of your supervisor.
- Maintain a safe and professional environment at all times.
- Collect and process forensic and clinical specimens with confidence.
- Verify patient demographics and ensure correct labeling of samples.
- Keep thorough records and documentation.
- Promote a positive image of the organization to patients and colleagues.
Requirements:
- Ability to deliver high-quality, error-free work in a fast-paced setting.
- Capability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent phlebotomy skills, including experience with pediatric and geriatric patients.
- Flexibility in scheduling, with the ability to work weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed.
- Commitment to company policies, including dress code and employee health and safety standards.
- Good judgment and decision-making skills based on established procedures.
- Reliable transportation and a clean driving record are required for travel between locations.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Strong customer focus and excellent communication skills.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Medical training as a medical assistant or paramedic is preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification is preferred but required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
- A minimum of three years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- At least two years of experience in a Patient Service Center environment is preferred.
- Previous customer service experience in a retail or service environment is a plus.
- Proficiency in keyboarding and data entry skills.
