The Part-Time Patient Care Associate will provide exceptional service in a clinical or front office environment. This role is responsible for a wide range of clerical and administrative tasks essential for patient care, including welcoming and checking in patients, managing phone communications, processing payments, and handling paperwork in a fast-paced and customer-focused clinical setting.

This position is part-time with flexibility to work various 8-hour shifts throughout our 24/7 operating hours. Occasionally, overtime may be required based on organizational needs. The work location is 532 W Pittsburgh Street, Greensburg, PA 15601.

We offer comprehensive training for 3-4 weeks, which includes 20 buddy shifts and a computer training program lasting about a week. Training hours will be coordinated with your mentor's schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage directly with patients and families, completing the registration process through accurate collection of demographics, health information, and verification of insurance benefits.
  • Utilize computer systems to enter or verify patient information in real-time, ensuring data accuracy and completeness.
  • Gather necessary clinical details and manage referrals, pre-certifications, and authorizations as per insurance requirements.
  • Verify insurance coverage and benefits, and generate price estimates as needed.
  • Collect patient co-pays and discuss financial obligations in a compassionate manner.
  • Identify and address outstanding balances from prior visits, working to collect any amounts due.
  • Collect data directly from patients to confirm and arrange appointments with providers before discharge.
  • Respond empathetically to patient inquiries concerning routine and sensitive matters.
  • Generate and analyze patient data reports, addressing any discrepancies as required.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of registration processes across various clinical areas.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED (or higher).
  • At least 1 year of customer service experience in a healthcare, office, or call center environment.
  • Ability to work part-time and flexibility for occasional overtime as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in hospital patient registration, physician offices, or medical settings.
  • Knowledge of insurance reimbursement and financial verification processes.
  • Familiarity with processing financial payments.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Understanding of insurance policies and procedures.
  • Basic math skills for financial transactions.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.

Physical and Work Environment:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods (10 to 12 hours) while using a workstation on wheels with a phone/headset.
