Preventative Maintenance Inspection/Lubrication Tech
The Office of Physical Plant is seeking applicants for a part-time position as a Preventative Maintenance Inspection/Lubrication Tech.
Job duties to include:
- Perform various maintenance and repair operations such as cleaning, regapping, or replacing spark plugs, testing compression by gauge, setting timing, adjusting carburetor, cleaning and/or replacing filters, adjusting alignment by utilizing the alignment machine analyzer, etc.
- Inspect vehicles according to Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Inspection regulations
- Periodically perform preventive maintenance service as prescribed by manufacturer or customer
- Check, lubricate steering gear, batteries, fluid levels, change oil and various filters, adjust brakes, etc.
- Perform miscellaneous repairs on such things as lights and wiring, flat tires, broken oil lines, exhaust system replacement, fuel line, fuel pump; straighten and adjust linkage, arms, shield, etc.
- Assist Automotive Mechanics with major repairs such as engine overhaul, transmission repair, clutch repair, and rear axle replacement, spring replacement or repair.
- Provide initial equipment service on new vehicles and equipment including rustproofing and installing decals as directed
- Operate emergency service equipment to start vehicles, change tires at various locations. Operate towing or wrecker equipment, as directed
- Maintain shop equipment and shop area in clean and orderly condition
- Detect unusual conditions and report to the supervisor, within scope of training and ability
Job Requirements, qualifications, and/or competencies:
- Requires the use of shop mathematics together with the use of complicated drawings, specifications, charts, tables, various types of precision measuring instruments and/or the training generally applicable in a particular or specialized occupation. Equivalent to 1 to 3 years applied trades training.
- Pennsylvania Commercial Drivers License (CDL) class A or B is preferred
- Category 1 Pennsylvania Inspection License is required
- PA Emissions Inspection Certificate is highly preferred
Schedule:
- Second shift position
- Part time 20 hours per week
- M-F 4:30pm-9:00pm (hours are negotiable)
- Days Off: Saturday, Sunday
Compensation:
The hourly rate for this job is $23.78 per hour.
Note: This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid drivers license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks. Note: If you have a current CDL, this position is subject to federal Department of Transportation testing for alcohol and controlled substances (49 CFR Part 40), and physical examination requirements as per PA Code 231.85.
