Title: Part-Time Faculty – Health Information Management

Job Summary: Part-time faculty are hired as needed on a semester-to-semester basis and typically teach up to nine credit hours during the semester. Columbia State offers classes at five campuses: Columbia Campus, Williamson Campus, Lawrenceburg Campus, Lewisburg Campus, and Clifton Campus. Classes are also offered at several off-campus locations and clinical sites.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Hold a Master's degree or higher with a major in Health Information Management, Public Health, Information Systems, Medical Informatics, or a related field.
  • Or hold an AAS degree or higher AND certification in RHIT, RHIA, CCS, or CPC, or have a minimum of one year experience in the field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Teaching Experience
  • Higher Education Experience

Applicants may be subject to a background check. Re-application is necessary each calendar year. Salary is $560 per credit hour, with workload adjustments for classes exceeding contact hours, and a possible travel stipend for travel over 80 miles weekly.

Part-Time Faculty Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare for courses and adhere to syllabi and student learning outcomes.
  • Begin and end classes as scheduled.
  • Organize, assign, and supervise student learning activities.
  • Maintain academic standards and classroom behavior.
  • Evaluate students and communicate scores promptly.
  • Keep accurate attendance and grade records.
  • Respond to student inquiries via email timely.
  • Meet all administrative deadlines.
