Position Summary
As our part-time Engineering Manager, you'll keep our small dev team aligned and on track while still rolling up your sleeves to code and review PRs. You'll be responsible for planning sprints, smoothing out technical hurdles, and ensuring we ship high-quality features quickly. You'll serve as the connective tissue between product and engineering-creating clarity, setting standards, and supporting the team's velocity and cohesion.
Key Responsibilities
Meet the team
Dive into the codebase to begin building context
Establish basic team routines (daily stand-ups, backlog grooming, async check-ins)
Review the code architecture and identify both quick wins and risky areas
Propose improvements and engineering standards
Collaborate with engineers and product to ship a small but meaningful feature or bug fix by week's end
Lead sprint planning and backlog prioritization
Review and merge pull requests, ensuring quality and maintainability
Unblock developers and solve technical challenges
Coordinate across time zones with clear, asynchronous communication
Guide implementation of engineering best practices
Qualifications
Required :
Engineering leader with startup experience
Proficient in React / Next.js
Strong communicator and async-first thinker
Thrives in a lean, fast-paced environment
Salary Range : $100-120 / hour
