Job Description :

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • The Captain is the company's onboard manager and representative.
  • Responsible for the safe and efficient operation and navigation of the vessel in all weather conditions, as well as ensuring the safety of all persons on board.
  • Ensures proper manning of the vessel according to the vessel's COI and that passenger counts are accurately conducted and recorded.
  • Responsible for training the vessel crew and ensuring adherence to all applicable US Coast Guard, Federal, and State laws, including company policies and procedures. Evaluates crew capabilities and performance, and reports to the Operations Manager.
  • Immediately reports any accidents, incidents, or unusual occurrences using the quickest means available, and ensures proper documentation using the company's forms and USCG Form 2692.
  • Maintains the appearance and cleanliness of the vessel.
  • Performs specified preventative maintenance on equipment such as gangways, engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, water systems, fire suppression, communications, and navigation.
  • Conducts periodic engine room inspections while underway.
  • Documents and reports maintenance activities and deficiencies in the company's Wheel-House Software.
  • Familiar with the vessel's Security Plan to ensure security drills are conducted and recorded as per company policy.
  • Conducts safety drills as required by USCG regulations and company policy.
  • Conducts daily job briefings at the start and end of each shift, with acknowledgments and log entries.
  • Ensures crew conduct aligns with company policies.
  • Ensures compliance with Coast Guard, federal, and local regulations.
  • Follows the Emergency Response Plan strictly.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
  • Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 100-TON Master Inland or higher license.
  • TWIC, First Aid/CPR certifications.
  • Marine Radio Operator Permit.
  • Detail-oriented with strong situational awareness.
  • Strong radar and navigation skills.
  • Focus on safety and teamwork.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for coworkers and guests.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and grooming standards.
  • Availability to work nights, weekends, and major holidays.
