**Duties**

** Summary**

As a Paint Leader, you will as a leader over a group of painters and helpers andperforms non-supervisory journeyman level work. Receive general instructions from the Foreman or other supervisors, who spot check work in process and upon completion.

**Location of position:** Public Buildings Service, National Capital Region, White House Service Center, Washington, DC.

**Responsibilities**

As a Paint Leader you will perform the following duties:

+ Work with and leads a group of painters and helpers, with responsibility for completing all details of assigned projects in connection with the painting and preservation of interiors and exteriors of buildings and structures.

+ Receive general instructions from the Foreman or other supervisors, who spot check work in process and upon completion. Guides include work orders, sketches, specifications, organization policies, and accepted trade techniques.

+ Work and lead on painting and decorating interior corridors, rooms, and woodworks protective painting of exterior wall surfaces, windows, window trim, and metal work such as downspouts, flashing, cornices, roofs, gutters, and fencing; laying out and marking parking areas; and finishing furniture, cabinets and special surfaces. Incumbent may also supervise the plastering of walls and ceilings.

+ Incumbent is responsible for the proper use maintenance, and storage of necessary supplies, materials, and equipment. May post time records, and maintain record of daily production or other incidental records as needed.

+ Assign specific tasks to subordinates and inspects work during each phase and upon completion for compliance with instructions. Trains subordinates in proper work methods and safety practices. **Travel Required**

**Requirements**

+ US Citizenship or National (Residents of American Samoa and Swains Island)

+ Meet all eligibility requirements within 30 days of the closing date.

If selected, you must meet the following conditions:

+ Receive authorization from OPM on any job offer you receive, if you are or were (within the last 5 years) a **political** Schedule A, Schedule C or Non-Career SES employee in the Executive Branch.

+ Serve a one year probationary period, if required.

+ Undergo and pass a background investigation (Tier 5 investigation level). You must be granted this clearance before you can start the job.

+ Have your identity and work status eligibility verified if you are not a GSA employee. We will use the Department of Homeland Securitys e-Verify system for this. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of continued employment.

+ This position may require the candidate to be reached during non-assigned working hours, with a reasonable expectation, in order to facilitate the running of the White House Service Center Complex that operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Incumbent is subject to being called at any time for emergency situations involving buildings managed.

+ This position is subject to periodic and random drug testing.

+ This position is a Critical Sensitive National Security Position. To work in this position, you must undergo a background investigation. Selection to this position is contingent upon you being determined to be eligible for a National Security Clearance Top Secret required for access to the White House Center Complex by the Executive Office of the President. Reinvestigations are conducted periodically after appointment. Retention in this position is contingent upon you maintaining eligibility for a National Security Clearance Top Secret for access to the White House Service Center Complex with the Executive Office of the President.

+ Works inside and outside, sometimes in bad weather, and is usually exposed to paint spray and fumes. Experiences discomfort while wearing respirator. Is exposed to the possibility of cuts, bruises and broken

bones.

+ Exerts physical energy while working from ladders and scaffolding and maintaining body balance while working overhead. Incumbent must bend, stoop, kneel, and turn while repairing floors, walls, and-partitions of various materials. ** Qualifications**

The WL-09 salary range starts at $30.80 per hour

If you are a new federal employee, your starting salary will likely be set at the Step 1 of the grade for which you are selected.
