**Job Description & Requirements**

The Painter is responsible for all aspects of paint and coatings applications, maintenance, inspection and/or repair of buildings and structures owned and operated by Universal Studios Hollywood and throughout the theme park. Experience in the following areas is preferred; general painting, operation of conventional spray gun, airless sprayer, HVLP sprayer; experience with color matching; working knowledge of paint products and their application in painting, furniture finishing, staining, striping, bleaching and aging. Faux finishing techniques including graining, over-glaze, wash age, dust age, spatter; hanging of wallpaper, caulking and surface prep.

**Responsibilities**

* Paints various props (ex. -wood graining, aging, textures) to match existing surfaces.

* Performs layout, sculpting, theming and painting of various props from Artist direction and/or conceptual drawings.

* Applies coats of paint, varnish, stain, enamel, or lacquer to decorate and protect interior or exterior surfaces, trimmings,and fixtures of buildings and other structures.

* Prepares surfaces for painting; using sandpaper, brushes, or steel wool, and removes old paint from surfaces, using paintremover, scraper, wire brush, or blowtorch.

* Preps and paints new surfaces for new construction and remodels; Fills nail holes, cracks, and joints with caulk, putty,plaster, or other filler, using caulking gun and putty knife.

* Specialized painting and Faux Techniques, new work and touch up

* Selects premixed paints, or mixes required portions of pigment, oil, and thinning and drying substances to prepare paintthat matches specified colors.

* Simulates wood grain, marble, brick, or tile effects.

* Applies paint with cloth, brush, sponge, or fingers to create special effects.

* Applies wall paper, fabrics and other specialty work

* Automotive finish level on cabinets and other applications, HVLP or Spray Gun

* Equipment cleaning, care and maintenance.

* Support of Maintenance repair functions, such as drywall mudding and caulking, and performs all other duties as assigned

* Adheres to all Standard Operating Procedures within Technical Services and USH at large.

* Promotes and provides extraordinary guest service for both internal and external guests; answer questions, offerinformation, and provide assistance in a courteous manner.

* Understands and demonstrates the proper use of safety practices and ensures department standards are maintained andsafety policies for the Park upheld.

* Performs other duties as assigned

**Desired Characteristics**

* Must be 18 years of age or older

* 3-5 years technical and trade experience in theme painting and air brush painting

**Requirements**

* Associates degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school OR 3-5 yearstechnical and trade experience in a similar work environment dealing with critical paint issues.

* Experience in freestyle painting

* Theme Park Operations knowledge
