POSITION SUMMARY
Nordic Naturals, a leading Omega-3 Fish Oils supplement brand, is seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Automation Engineer to lead production and packaging automation initiatives and support continuous improvements across our production floor. The role involves applying lean manufacturing concepts to optimize existing processes and implementing automation solutions. The engineer will troubleshoot packaging and automation systems to support the production team.

Essential Function Statements:
Design, develop, and implement automated solutions for packaging systems (filling, bottling, labeling, cartoning, etc.).Provide support for PLC, HMI, SCADA, and other control systems across production lines.Troubleshoot and resolve issues with automated machinery to minimize downtime and ensure product quality.Optimize packaging line OEE through line balancing and lean/Six Sigma principles.Suggest and implement automation ideas and equipment for continuous manufacturing improvement.Create, update, and train the packaging team on Work Instructions following GMP protocols.Serve as a subject matter expert in automation and packaging manufacturing, supporting process optimization.Support change control, equipment qualifications (IQ/OQ/PQ), ensuring compliance with GMP, FDA, and other regulations.Research industry trends in automation and packaging, translating them into manufacturing requirements.Collaborate cross-functionally with Maintenance, Quality, and Production teams for training and process improvements.Identify opportunities for predictive maintenance and smart factory technologies using IoT and data analytics.Support transition to new ERP systems through cross-functional collaboration.Perform other duties as assigned.POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Skills & Abilities
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Packaging, Electrical, Automation, Industrial, or Mechatronics Engineering.
- Proficiency in PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens), HMI/SCADA, and industrial protocols.
- Experience with robotic systems (ABB, FANUC, Yaskawa).
- Hands-on experience with CIP systems, validation, and cleaning cycle optimization.
- Familiarity with Industry 4.0, IoT, data analytics platforms.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
- LEAN Certification (Green Belt/Black Belt) preferred.
Experience:
- 7+ years in automation of packaging and production lines in relevant industries.
- Experience with vision systems, servo drives, robotics, conveyor systems.
Computer Skills:
- PLC programming software (Studio 5000, TIA Portal, EcoStruxure).
- HMI/SCADA software (FactoryTalk View, Ignition, Wonderware, GE iFIX).
- Industrial networking protocols (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus).
- Robotics programming tools (RobotStudio, ROBOGUIDE, MotoSim).
- CAD, simulation, data analysis, MES/ERP systems familiarity.
Pay, Benefits & Perks:
Salary range: $140,000 - $167,000, plus incentives. Benefits include health plans, dental, vision, mental health, PTO, holidays, sabbatical, 401(k), product discounts, wellness coaching, and more.
