The Packaging Operator is a skilled and experienced team leader responsible for overseeing daily packaging operations on the production floor. This role combines hands-on operation of packaging machinery with leadership responsibilities to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality packaging of finished goods. In addition to operating and maintaining machinery, the Packaging Operator is accountable for monitoring production schedules, guiding team activities, ensuring safety and quality standards are met, and maintaining accurate documentation of all packaging activities. Main aspects of the role include:
Operate and monitor production equipment, and lead activities of others working on the line, ensure efficient and safe operation. Perform machine changeovers, adjustments, and minor troubleshooting as needed. Conduct basic maintenance and cleaning of machines according to SOPs. Maintain production flow and report equipment or process issues promptly. Accurately complete production records and quality checks in real-time. Ensure all documentation complies with company policies, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and regulatory standards. Enter production data into digital systems (e.g., MES, ERP, or spreadsheets) as required. Identify and correct documentation errors or escalate them to supervisors as needed. Report non-conformances or quality concerns immediately. Hourly pay: $25.00 with $1.00 differential for night shift Schedule: Monday- Friday Shifts available on 3rd (night) 3rd shift (10:45pm-7:15am) Environment of this position: Frequent exposure to extreme temperatures Noise level in the work environment can be loud Exposure to various food allergens Regular requirement to stand, walk, climb, push, pull, reach, carry, and lift and twist Must be able to regularly lift 15 pounds and up to 50 pounds OFD contains office, manufacturing and outdoor workspaces where this position is required to access and work. The position requires a person to be able to frequently walk, stand and climb; bend and twist; see, hear and talk; use hands to type, handle or feel tools, controls; use hands and arms to reach, hold and carry tools or items. This position also requires a person to handle environments of varied temperatures and with various food allergens present; and be comfortable at various heights. You! The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent; college or technical training is a plus. 1-3 years of experience operating manufacturing equipment, preferably in a food or GMP environment, is required. Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and documentation skills are essential, along with attention to detail. Basic computer skills and familiarity with data entry, digital forms, and manufacturing systems are needed. Candidates should be comfortable with basic math and unit conversions, and able to read and understand SOPs, work instructions, and technical documents. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks is important for success in this role. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds for extended periods of time is necessary. Additionally, reliable transportation is necessary with the requirement to be able to transport between company locations.
