Job Summary

The Lead directs activities of employees on the production floor. The Lead has direct responsibility for the operational performance of the packaging system in terms of food safety, quality, effectiveness, efficiency, and accuracy; ensuring that all SQF requirements are met. The Lead must possess the ability to look forward, proactively identifying potential challenges to the smooth ongoing production flow of the production floor and must communicate identified challenges in a timely manner. The Lead must possess the ability to manage employees in the areas of attendance, effort, hygiene, workplace safety, and cultural appropriateness.

General Accountabilities

Directs and supervises personnel engaged on the packaging line.

Monitors all activities to ensure that co-pack clients and consumers receive quality packaged goods.

Ensures that the line personnel are operating in a fashion that meets each co-pack client product specification.

Trains and evaluates packaging line personnel.

Assigns employees to specific duties and monitors performance of those duties.

Enforces safety, health, and security rules.

Enforces company-wide policies, goals, objectives, and procedures.

Identifies maintenance needs and communicates to the General Manager.

Identifies safety/quality gaps and communicates to the Quality/EHS Manager.

Communicates production schedules and any tasks/preparation that must be done prior to packaging any goods.

Ensures that all packaging run documentation is completed accurately and in a timely fashion.

Follows written SOPs and other written instructions as they relate to GMPs, Safe Quality Foods (SQF), organic, gluten free, non-gmo, etc.

Manages the ongoing cleaning and basic operator-level maintenance of all packaging equipment and floor area.

Communicates with the Cellar Lead as products are released for packaging.

Communicates with the Warehouse & Inventory Manager and packaging line personnel to ensure that all necessary materials are available for production.
