Job description:

This position is for a Packaging Development R&D Lab Technician responsible for managing the Lab and Plant in the US, located in a strategic location.

The candidate must have experience managing a Packaging Lab, with strong technical skills, the ability to learn quickly, and work independently, preferably with at least 5 years of experience in the food industry.

The individual should be a strong team player, capable of guiding junior engineers, solving technical problems, and effectively communicating with the Packaging Development Team.

Day-to-day Activities:
  • Perform packaging testing, share data, and maintain records.
  • Support or execute trials at the Pilot Plant; serve as the Single Point of Contact for staff.
  • Create or maintain internal test methods & SOPs.
  • Purchase supplies and consumables following procedures.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and tidy lab and pilot plant environment.
  • Use data repositories for all tests.
  • Conduct lab tours for Senior Leadership.
Safety:
  • Serve as Packaging Safety Steward.
  • Coordinate site safety inspections and update risk assessments.
  • Conduct safety training for new employees.
  • Manage storage locations in the lab.
Budget Planning & Tracking:
  • Plan and submit the next year's budget, including capital expenses.
  • Track expenses and forecast accurately.
Maintenance, Calibration & Training:
  • Maintain equipment schedules and coordinate repairs.
  • Schedule training for new installations and manage equipment support.
  • Coordinate vendor calibration tests.
New Equipment Purchase & Installation:
  • Identify needs based on feedback and strategic goals.
  • Draft ARs and complete GRs.
  • Lead installation activities with Facilities.
  • Manage assets and coordinate trials with staff.
  • Ensure proper documentation and compliance with safety standards.
